Mexico 1-0 Cameroon

Oribe Peralta scored a second half goal as Mexico overcame two disallowed goals to beat Cameroon 1-0 in their World Cup opener at the
Estadio das Dunas on Friday.

Early in the first half, the former Tottenham and Mexico forward Giovani dos Santos had a volley and header wrongly ruled out by Colombian referee Wilmar Roldan for offside.

The West Africans, who were behind in ball possession throughout the game, rarely threatened but a Samuel Eto’o shot hit the post and Benoit Assou-Ekotto’s free-kick went wide in a goalless opening half.
Peralta was the man to save the day for Mexico when he arrived to slot in Dos Santos’s shot which was stopped by Cameroon keeper Itandje just after an hour.

The Indomitabe Lions pushed for an equalizer but Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa denied Benjamin Moukandjo’s header in stoppage time.
The Victory means Mexico are second placed in Group A behind Brazil who beat Croatia 3-1 in World Cup opening game and the two sides will meet on Tuesday in Fortaleza.
