Arsenal To Beat Premier League Rivals Liverpool To €30m Signing Of Impressive Striker

The Gunners move ahead in the race for Rodrigo.

Benfica forward Rodrigo has attracted plenty of attention this season and despite interest from Liverpool, it’s Arsenal that are set to offer €30m for the Spaniard, reports Super Deporte.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have also
kept tabs in the past, whilst it’s widely regarded that Valencia will provide the stiffest competition to the Gunners for the 23-year-old’s signature.
Rodrigo scored 18 goals in all competitions for the Portuguese champions, as they managed to release FC Porto’s grasp on the Primeira Liga title in 2013/14 and also make their second successive Europa League final – eventually losing to Sevilla.
This has impressed the north London outfit, who are looking to improve their own attack after manager Arsene Wenger admitted that too much reliance was put upon striker Olivier Giroud.
Rodrigo is less of a No.9 than Giroud, often operating as either an attacking midfielder or on the right wing and this versatility is an appealing attribute for Wenger and what he has planned for his team.
The attacker was born in Brazil, but was raised in northern Spain and was prolific in their Under-21 side, scoring 15 goals in 16 caps and winning the European Championship in 2013.

As yet Rodrigo has not earned a senior cap, but national team manager Vicente del Bosque has been keeping a close eye on the star from the Estadio da Luz.
Some English fans may remember the Spaniard from a brief loan spell he had with Bolton Wanderers back 2010/11, making just six appearances shortly after signing for Benfica from Real Madrid.
