Under the Argentinian, the men from St. Mary's have started the current campaign in impressive fashion. Currently in the Champions League places, Pochettino's plan to take Southampton into Europe seems well on course.
Star man: In what could turn out to be one of the best signings of the summer, £8.5 million centre-half Dejan Lovren has slotted seamlessly into the Southampton back four since his arrival from Lyon. The Croatian international has proved a shrewd acquisition, with his marshaling of the back four helping the Saints concede just two goals so far this season.
Quote/unquote: David Moyes says the Reds go into the match confident: "Sometimes you get the international break on the back of a bad result and sometimes off a good result. We went into it with a good result. [The international break is always a concern], especially when you have so many players away like we do. I'll monitor training, one or two are nursing knocks so we'll need to look at it but hopefully they will be okay.
